Six Flags!

this previous thursday- friday olivia and i had a chance to go to six flags with our youth group for youth week. i had been SUPER excited about this trip for a long time because this would be my first time to go on a true rolla coaster. so on thursday afternoon we headed up to dallas-arlington area where we stayed at flower mound umc. we unloaded our bags and then headed to our associate pastors seminary graduation ceremony. she was very happy that we were there. after the ceremony we went to sonic for dinner then headed back to flower mound.

the next morning we had breakfast then we were on our way to six flags!! once we arrived i was sooo excited to go on my first rolla coaster. we were originally planning on going to the titan first but we took a wrong turn and ended up going to the texas giant. it was almost our turn then the rolla coaster had technical difficulties. we waited around 45 mins. then decided to leave. we headed to the titan after that. i was so scared and excited!!

Em's Birthday Celebration!

sorry this post is really late and with no pictures but I did have a birthday party for my friends on wednesday july 13. the day before we went to the newly opened and delicious restaurant, BJs and i had the whole treatment. that includes my sisters, and katy singing happy birthday at the top of their lungs and then a very tasty free kids pizzokie. if you dont know what a pizzokie is at BJs it is a yummy cookie with a plop of vanilla ice cream on top. to start the party my friends and i had a chick-fil-a chicken nugget tray then headed to the movies to see monte carlo. after monte carlo, we had a nice refreshing swim. overall, i had an awesome birthday!!

Strikes, Spares, and Lots of Fun!

This year our family signed up for a progam where kids can bowl free all summer! So, a couple of days ago we went for the first time. First, we got our very goofy clown shoes and a 6-pound ball. Our family and Katy have a history of creating silly names. Such as: Jennings: Juicy Fruit, Abby: Apricot, Ellie: Eggplant, Emily: Emu Pie, and Katy our fabulous creator of names, was Kiwi. The first game Ellie, Abby, and Jennings had gutter blockers. But, we still didn't manage to beat Katy after her Turkey (three strikes in a row)!

The second game we played there were 4 goofy guys who came to the lane beside us.They thought it was hilarious that we were using 6 and 7-pound balls so, they gave the balls a try. They acted like it was the coolest thing to use our balls. We had a great time bowling!

As you can see from the pictures...we have some serious bowlers on our hands! Gutter guards or no gutter guards, we come to win!

We survived the Hurricane!

It started out as a typical day at the Garrett household. Emily suggested we take a trip to the mall for some window shopping. So, thinking that was a harmless activity, we decided to give it a go! Little did we know, but we would encounter the great Post Oak Hurricane of 2011. After window shopping, walking, and snacking on pretzels and smoothies we were headed back to Bealls so we could exit the mall. Just as we were approaching Bealls we encountered a small, contained, but VERY strong hurricane. Because the kids were looking for a little adventure, and because they were under the influence of the peer pressure of Jamie Manning, they decided to take on the hurricane whole heartedly. And well, maybe I shouldn't refer to it as PEER pressure as I am not sure that you can consider Jamie a PEER seeing as she is an adult...but either way...the fact that she has survived the very same hurricane...as well as many others like it across America made the temptation too strong to resist. The kids also wanted to be hurricane survivors and accepted the challenge! Luckily, they all survived...and they brought joy to the lives of the innocent bystanders, as well as the security guard! And we all know those security guards need a little action to keep their day from being so boring...its not like Post Oak Mall is the type of place where you see any serious mall cop action going down!!! Here are the pictures from the Great Post Oak Hurricane of 2011...

The winds were just starting to pick up...3.5 mph                             Getting stronger....50.3 mph

Jennings is trying to make a run for it....                                            HELP! A hair blowing 78.7 mph!!!
